Laradon serves as an approved Employment Network (EN) under the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work program. We provide a wide range of services, including Work Incentives Counseling to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) Beneficiaries. Our services are designed for Beneficiaries who want to return to work or who have already returned to work and need information and assistance managing their benefits and maintaining their employment.
The services offered by Laradon educate individuals about effectively using Work Incentives so they are able to return to the workforce confidently. We will teach Beneficiaries how working will affect their cash and medical benefits. We will also provide them with specific job search and job retention services so Beneficiaries are able to meet their long-term personal employment and financial goals.
Welcome to Laradon’s Ticket to Work Program! We offer services to SSI/SSDI Beneficiaries who have or are interested in re-entering the workforce to increase their self-sufficiency. Laradon’s Employment Network (EN) uses a relationship-based, client-centered approach to help individuals achieve their employment goals. In personal one-on-one sessions we get to know them and offer tools and services that will meet their specific needs. It is Laradon’s goal to assist every individual in their job search and educate them about the Work Incentives available. Work Incentives provide safety nets for their cash and medical benefits when they return to work. Career Counseling and Goal Setting: Laradon counsels individuals to assist in matching an individual’s interests, skills and abilities to create an employment goal.
Resume and Cover Letter Development: Assistance to create a new or more powerful resume and cover letter.
Interviewing Skills: One-on-one sessions that coach individuals to sell themselves to potential employers, educate them on answering potential interview questions, especially the hard to answer interview questions.
Job Search Assistance: We teach individuals the most effective job search tools, provide appropriate job leads and conduct personal job search coaching sessions.
Work Incentives Counseling: We provide education about Social Security Work Incentives and the safety net they provide individuals while they are attempting to return to the workforce.
Follow-Along Services: Individuals receive regular check-ins with Laradon staff to discuss progress or needs at work.
Job Accommodations: Clients receive advice on how to ask for reasonable job accommodations.
Job Retention Services: Get assistance to ensure job retention.
Social Security Work Incentives and Benefits Planning: Individuals learn how Social Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) benefits will be affected by being an active member of the workforce, how to prevent overpayments or disruption of benefits, as well as receive assistance or appropriate referrals to help resolve benefits issues.
Reporting Income to the Social Security Administration: We teach how to properly report income to avoid overpayments or Social Security complications.
Ticket to Work FAQs What is the Ticket to Work program? The Ticket to Work program (TTW) is part of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999. The program is voluntary and provides assistance to beneficiaries who want to return to the work place.
Who is eligible to participate?
Most SSI and SSDI beneficiaries who are 18-64 years old.
SSI and SSDI recipients who are interested in improving their current financial situation by working and reducing the need for cash benefits.
Is there a charge for Ticket to Work services? Ticket to Work Services are free! We just ask that individuals make a serious attempt to be employed at a significant level.
What are the benefits of assigning My Ticket to Work?
By assigning their Ticket to Laradon’s Employment Network or a State Vocational Rehabilitation agency, and by making Timely Progress towards their education or work goals, individuals will not be subject to Continuing Disability Reviews (CDRs).
Persons will receive information and services to help them attain personal employment and financial goals.
By using Work Incentives and their Ticket, individuals have the opportunity to earn more than the amount of their disability payment. This will assist them in becoming financially self-sufficient.
What are the three biggest myths about Social Security Disability Benefits and work?
If I go back to work, I will automatically lose my Medicare or Medicaid. THIS IS A MYTH!
When I go to work, even if I am receiving support from an Employment Network, Social Security will do a medical review of my case and I could lose my benefits. THIS IS A MYTH!
If my benefits checks stop because I go to work and then stop working because of my disability, I will have to reapply for benefits all over again. It took me forever to be approved for benefits in the first place. It does not make sense for me to go to work. THIS IS A MYTH!
What if my cash benefits stop due to my earnings and I am no longer able to continue working? There are safety nets known as Work Incentives available to you even after your cash benefits stop. Our employees will be able to guide you through the process of getting your cash benefits reinstated without needing to submit a new application for disability benefits.
How long is My Ticket Good for? Most “Tickets” are good for three to five years of follow along services from a Ticket Program once employment is achieved. Services received prior to employment are not time limited.
What are Work Incentives? Work Incentives are Social Security Administration disability program rules that allow you to reduce your countable income so that you can continue to receive a cash benefit while you explore work or look for a job that is right for you. Examples of such Work Incentives include the extension of Medicare and Medicaid coverage while working, Impairment-Related Work Expenses, and Plans for Achieving Self-Support. In addition, if your work attempt is unsuccessful, Social Security has made it easy for you to get back on benefits when and if needed.
Can I receive services from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and an Employment Network (EN) at the same time? No! You can only receive employment services from one Employment Network at a time. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies are also Employment Networks. There is one exception to this rule. Many Employment Networks, including Laradon, do provide services to Vocational Rehabilitation clients on a contract basis as part of your VR services. In this case VR still holds your Ticket. After VR case closure, you can assign your Ticket to the EN of your choosing to receive job retention services and Work Incentives Counseling.
What is “Timely Progress?” What does it mean for me if I use my Ticket? As long as you are participating in the Ticket to Work program and are making the expected progress toward your employment goal, the Social Security Administration (SSA) does not perform a medical “Continuing Disability Review” on you. Every 12 months after you assign your Ticket to an EN, the SSA reviews your employment goals and looks at your progress in completing certain education or getting and keeping a job. What happens if I fail my “Timely Progress Review” while I gave my Ticket assigned to an Employment Network (EN)? The only thing that changes if you have your Ticket assigned and you do not meet “Timely Progress” requirements is the fact that you will then be subject to a Continuing Disability Review at your next scheduled Disability Review date. Disability review dates are pre-scheduled at the time you are determined eligible for disability benefits and usually occur at 1, 3, 5 or 7 year intervals depending on your type of disability.
