Q. How do I become a host home provider?
A. The first step to becoming a host home provider is to completely fill out Laradon's Host Home application and a Criminal Background Investigation (CBI) form and submit it to:

The second step is the interview process. Upon reviewing the application you will be notified if you are chosen for an interview. Completing an application and a CBI form does not guarantee that Laradon will contract with you to be a Host Home Provider.
Q. What types of certifications and training are required when becoming a host home provider?
A. Required certifications are:
Medication Certification, CPR, First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and Defensive Driving.
Additionally, all potential host home providers are required to participate in the Host Home Provider orientation. During the orientation you can expect to learn about the various policies and procedures surrounding residential documentation, monitoring and quality standards and, many other topics.
Q. What are the insurance requirement necessary when becoming a host home provider?
A. Insurance requirements are:
- Home owners/renter’s insurance and/or other appropriate liability insurance: the minimum level of homeowner’s /renters insurance must be at $100,000and 15,000 for personal possessions.
- Automobile Insurance the minimum level of automobile liability and uninsured motorist each at $250,000/500,000/$100,000 on a split level basis.
- Professional/General liability insurance minimum level is $600,000.
Q. Can I be employed and have a host home?
A. Yes, you may be employed outside of Laradon and have a host home.
The expectation is that you are able to identify the needs of the person placed in your home to ensure your employment does not interfere with the every day needs of the participant.
Q. How long will it take to become a host home provider?
A. Unfortunately, this question is not easily answered. Each participant has unique needs and wants; therefore, each time a person is placed in a host home it takes a great deal of time to identify and match the very best potential provider with the individual. However, the more dedicated the potential provider is the smoother the process will go.
Host Home placement also depends on participant availability and if a participant is in need of a host home placement.
