Training Information

Laradon provides monthly training and re-certification classes for all employees. These trainings include topics such as First Aid, CPR, Safety Care Crisis Intervention, Medication Administration, Defensive Driving, Mistreatment, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation (MANE) and Incident Reporting (IR). Additionally, all new employees are required to attend orientation and complete the online course called Developmental Disabilities for Support Staff. Sign up for training on Paychex.

The following is a description of some classes that Laradon offers:

Saftey Care

This is a full two-day course. Safety Care has been developed to help staff work with clients who may present behavioral challenges. By implementing preventative strategies, functional based interventions, and safety management procedure, the client's quality of care can be significantly enhanced. In the process, staff safety will also be greatly improved. The course focuses on effectively managing disruptive or assaultive behaviors. The recerification class is required annually and is a one-day course.

Mistreatment, Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation (MANE)/Incident Reporting (IR)

This is a half-day course. This class covers Laradon's policies regarding MANE and IR. All employees, contract personnel and volunteers are responsible for the immediate reporting of any allegations or suspicion of MANE. This class must be taken annually.

Medication Administration Class and Medication Administration Policy Review Class:

This is a full day course. This class includes Laradon's policies and procedures on medication administration such as dispensing, storage, re-ordering, administration and medication error reporting procedures. After the initial class, a medication administration policy review must be taken yearly, which is a half-day course.

CPR

The American Heart Association CPR course provides a certificate which is valid for two years. This course provides information and hands-on experience with adult, child and infant choking and CPR along with the use of Automated External Defribrillators (AED).

First Aid

The American Heart Association course provides a certificate which is valid for two years. The course provides basic information and practical skills for general principles, medical emergencies, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies.

Defensive Driving

All employees who plan to transport participants or students must take Drivers Improvement Certification Class. Please contact your direct supervisor to confirm your role as Driver. This course certification if valid for two years.

* Please note: Be on time for class. If you are late or did not sign up, you may be turned away and asked to sign up for the next class. Infants, children and/or participants cannot attend classes.
