Employee Training Information

Laradon provides monthly training and re-certification classes for employees and host home providers contracting with Laradon on required topics such as First Aid and CPR, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Crisis Intervention Prevention (CPI), Medication Administration, Defensive Driving, Mistreatment, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation (MANE) and Incident Reporting. Please note that you will not be registered for the class until you receive a confirmation call.

The following is a description of some classes that Laradon offers:

Medication Administration Class and Re-cert Class:

This class is a full day course. This class includes Laradon’s policies and procedures on medication administration such as dispensing, storage, re-ordering, as well as administration and medication error reporting procedures. After the initial class, re-cert must be taken yearly.

Universal Precautions:

All Laradon employees must take Universal Precautions annually.

CPR:

The American Heart Association CPR course provides a certificate which is valid for two years. This course provides information and hands on experience with Adult, Child and infant choking and CPR along with the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).

First Aid:

The American Heart Association First Aid course provides a certificate which is valid for two years. The course provides basic information and practical skills for general principles, medical emergencies, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies

Defensive Driving:

Employees driving personal or agency vehicles to conduct agency business must take Defensive Driving. Employees need to take this class every two years.

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI):

Anyone signed up for the initial TCI, three day course must get a manual from the Training Coordinator before coming to class. You must read through and become familiar with the material before you come to class and bring the manual to class with you. In this class, employees will be taught strategies to help de-escalate crises. The Children’s Services Department, with the exception of FIT staff, are required to take TCI, it must be completed within the first 90 days of employment. TCI is presented over three days. The TCI refresher course is required every six months and includes a review of the physical skills.

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI):

This is a full day course. The course focuses on maintaining care, welfare, safety and security for participants and staff through de-escalation techniques, self awareness and effective physical management. The re-cert class is required annually. All staff in the Adult Services Division is required to complete the training in the first 90 days of employment. The re-cert class needs to be completed annually.

Mistreatment, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation (MANE) and Incident Reporting:

This is a half day course which reviews MANE and proper reporting procedures. The second portion of the class is on proper Incident Report writing and reporting
