GENERAL PROGRAM ADMISSION CRITERIA

The referral must be diagnosed with developmental disability and/or other disabilities, such as traumatic brain injury or medical conditions. Children 6 weeks through 3 years of age may be diagnosed as at risk for developmental delays or with a medical condition.

No person shall be admitted with a disease in a communicable form without an evaluation by a multidisciplinary team, the Admission and Discharge Committee and approval from the Deputy Director.

Person should not be injurious to themselves or others.

Problem behaviors must be controllable by structured environment, behavior programming and medication.

The referral must have adequate funding, either public or private.

Family, Infant and Toddler (FIT) Program

Entrance Criteria

  1. The age requirement is birth to 3 years of age.

  2. Meets Laradon admission requirements.

  3. Meets eligibility criteria agreed on by the Denver Options and Denver Public Schools Child Find, as mandated by Developmental Disabilities Services and Colorado Department of Education.

    Examples:

    • Significant delays in one or more areas, i.e., cognitive, social/emotional, physical, language
    • Chromosomal and congenital syndromes and conditions associated with developmental delays
    • Sensory impairments
    • Metabolic disorders
    • Cerebral palsy
    • Birth weight below 1,000 grams (less than 2 pounds)
    • Prenatal and perinatal infections and other significant medical problems
    • Postnatally acquired problems associated with significant medical problems (such as head injuries, encephalitis, meningitis, chronic otitis media and some seizure disorders)

Exit Criteria

1. Family requests to leave program.

2. Family moves out of county.

3. Lack of participation in the program.

4. Laradon requests a transfer or termination.

5. Child no longer meets age criteria (3 years).
